Liquid Chlorine is the most common type of chlorine used in the sanitation of swimming pools.

Liquid Chlorine has a relatively low available chlorine concentration, typically at the 12.5% mark. It can be added directly to pool water (always with necessary precautions) to very quickly raise the chlorine level. It is commonly used to shock treat green pools.

Of all the common chlorine varieties, liquid chlorine has the largest effect on the ph of your pool water with a ph of approximately 13. The result of this is that a ph down product, such as soda ash or muriatic acid will need to be used in order to keep the ph within safe range.
